Hi Reuben,
I just spent some time at the Echosign site. We developed an expert system that allows us to gather all pertinent data regarding a prospective inspection client and the property we will be inspecting. It generates a custom contract with services selected by them and the related fees. It requires them to initial each paragraph of our agreement and sign/date at the bottom. Echosign allows text strings to be written into Word fields where you want them to sign or initial and will allow the document to be uploaded for conversion and to send to the prospective client. I'm looking into this further as it is the workflow I would prefer.

We always send our agreements out in advance and require execution prior to site visit with rare exception.

Thanks for the tip.

Hi Martin,

Almost all of our business is home inspections, and that's what the contract covers. The form can't be easily customized; we send out the price of the inspection in an email.

Hi Reuben,
I like the concept, but your agreement lacks the specific services they are contracting for and the fee for each service. Is it possible to customize each agreement or do you set up a generic form and everybody signs the same form with their specific information inserted?

Consider using an online home inspection scheduling service that includes the inspection agreement approval in advance. We use a service called The Schedule Center from Inspection Management Systems. The client (or real estate agent) logs in and enters some basic property and contact information. The system calculates the home inspection fee, provides choices for a day and time for the inspection and allows online payment with a credit card. Emails are automatically sent out to keep everyone, including the selling agent, in the loop. Follow-up email marketing is also included.
