Thanks. I've started letting my clients use my backup flashlight - I feel bad when they're tagging along trying to use the LED light on their phone :)

A good flashlight it a treasured tool. I use a streamlight HD LED and love it but I also carry a cheap Coleman I bought at Walmart for $25 on my home inspections as a back up. It has 200 Lumens and uses 3 AAA batteries.

Works great.

Nice job on your blog

The TK35 is my tool of choice as well. Great article.
The fall from 2 stories high must have left a mark? What happened?

BigguyZ - the TK35 definitely has a good dollar-to-lumens ratio.
Milind - the TK21 has a rating of 449 lumens. This could only end in tears.

I was at Home Depot yesterday, and I walked past the flashlights. Since I read this post yesterday, I checked them out to compare. The 200 lumen ones were very bright- and $50 at that. So I can't imagine how bright 820 lumens is! but for the output, that seems like a decent deal for $110 comparably....

Oh man, you got me Reuben.

This house had hail damage which the previous owners chose not to fix. I had heard that hail damage could be a show stopper on an FHA appraisal, and I didn't want to be stuck without a house, so I hired a company to replace the damaged pieces of siding just before the appraisal... before I even owned the house. It was very short notice, so I told 'em to use whatever they could find - just get the job done. That they did, and there was no problem with the appraisal.

Some day I'm going to replace all the siding in that section, but I haven't got around to it yet. I'm sure it bugs my neighbors a lot more than it bugs me :)

Sounds like a good flashlight!

But I gotta ask... what's up with the siding on your garage? Looks like you had to replace a few panels and couldn't find an exact color match.
